Social conscience has played a major leadership role in establishing the Loan Fund from its earliest beginnings in 1994.
Then and now, as we reflect on the current economic condition, and the injustices that lead to an unstable world, the Loan Fund borrows direction from the views of many religious leaders and social justice advocates. Established by leadership from within Florida's Catholic Church, the Loan Fund also draws inspiration from "Economic Justice for All" by the US Catholic Conference of Bishops and, through its lending, lives out the teaching that the economy should work for the individual, and not vice-versa.
Consequently, the Loan Fund steadfastly evaluates each of its loans for the nature and extent of social impact it will achieve, and the contribution it will make toward the common struggle for social and economic justice.
