City View Apartments“All of us are affected when our neighbors are homeless. Collaborations like the one with the Florida Community Loan Fund are key to ensuring hope, dignity and opportunities for families struggling to achieve stability and independence.” – Stephanie Berman-Eisenberg, President/CEO, Carrfour Supportive Housing

In Miami-Dade County, there are over 4,000 homeless individuals on any given night; a number that increased from the previous year as much as 11% in some areas of the county. Carrfour Supportive Housing is making a difference in the lives of the homeless and formerly homeless by providing housing and supportive social services to encourage self-sufficiency.

One such housing development is City View Apartments, providing 66 apartments for formerly homeless residents who are impacted by disabilities. In addition to fully furnished affordable apartments with income rent restrictions that bring the average rent to $175 per month, City View offers on-site supportive services, a computer lab, and other amenities. Its location in the Little River neighborhood is convenient to downtown, the airport, and the Jackson health system; and several public bus lines run nearby.

Florida Community Loan Fund provided $850,000 in financing for City View Apartments. This loan will ensure that the project is able to remain affordable by refinancing an existing maturing mortgage. FCLF’s Florida Preservation Fund is tailored to improve and maintain multifamily housing through financing major renovations as well as refinancing existing loans. City View will have a significant impact in the Little River neighborhood as it brings housing and services to a highly vulnerable population.

Carrfour Supportive Housing was founded in 1993 to provide permanent housing and supportive services for homeless in Miami-Dade and the surrounding area. Carrfour has developed over 1,100 units of supportive housing which have reached 3,300 residents. Florida Community Loan Fund and Carrfour also worked together on Little Haiti Gateway Apartments in Miami.
